Development of our idea

We decided to change our music choice to What Went Down - The Foals. There are two main reasons for this. Firstly, the lyrics matched the narrative we want to try and convey and we liked the drum beats at the beginning of the song and we felt that we could use the 3 drum beats to our benefit in the actual music video and really make them stand out.

We also slightly changed the narrative. We were going to include an element of domestic violence and include more actors of the lead singer. However, we have come to the conclusion that acting out domestic violence is very hard to do as usually parents are really bad actors. We didn't want to complicate our music video by finding 3 or 4 actors of different ages who look somewhat similar so we decided to create a narrative that shows a boy who goes through a number of hardships in his younger years but finally pulls through and makes it in a successful band in the end. The narrative is basically to shown 'What went down' when he was growing up.

In terms of props, we had the idea to use sugar glass bottles for a scene when two bullies beat the boy. However, we decided we cannot use this because we don't want to risk hurting the boy when filming and the bottles are over our budget. We wanted our costumes for the actors to look simple but effective, therefore we are going for a look similar to The Ramones where they will be casual but styled.

Taking in the feedback we got from peers we decided we will use a target audience of teenagers as we believe that the narrative we are trying to portray may be able to help some people who are going from a similar time in their life and may also be able to get through it.
